Ancestor Solutions is home to Ireland’s largest team of professional genealogists, specialising in Irish genealogy,  family history research, probate genealogy and DNA-based family tracing. With more than 200 years of combined experience and over 3,000 completed research cases, our team brings unmatched expertise to even the most complex family history, heir‑tracing, or DNA‑related projects. We blend traditional research with modern genetic tools to deliver accurate, evidence‑based results trusted by families, solicitors, and probate professionals.

 

It was founded and is led by professional genealogist, Hilary McDonagh. She is a member of the Accredited Genealogists of Ireland (AGI), the accrediting and representative body for professional genealogists in Ireland. A researcher, speaker, teacher, and author, she has been involved for over 25 years in genealogical and family research. Hilary is part of the Genealogy Advisory team at the National Archives of Ireland, a role she previously held for many years at the National Library of Ireland.

 

She is a graduate of University College Dublin with a B.A. in History and Geography, a Diploma in Family History and Genealogy (1st Class Hons), and a Diploma in DNA Genetic Genealogy with the Trace DNA Academy. She also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management from Staffordshire University (UK).
